Free Eye Tests for Renfrewshire in sight
Tuesday, 25th October 2005Paisley North MSP Wendy Alexander welcomes the fact that all Renfrewshire residents will have access to a free complete eye examination by 2007.The MSP was speaking following an announcement by the Deputy Health Minister following agreement with Optometry Scotland on the standard and fee for the tests.
The announcement means that all Scottish residents will benefit, free of charge, from a full assessment which is more comprehensive than the standard sight test and may
help detect increasingly common eye problems like early stage cataracts or symptoms of diabetes.
Wendy said:
“I am delighted progress is being made on this policy.
“The fact that Buddies will benefit, free of charge, from a full assessment, and not just a basic sight test, is even better news.
“A regular eye test can help you make the most of your sight and is vital in keeping your eyes healthy.
“This will improve the service, making it more accessible to all.”
