LOTTERY CASH BENEFITS SCOUTS

Thursday, 8th December 2005

Paisley North MSP Wendy Alexander visited St. Mirin’s Scout Group to congratulate them on winning £4,750 from Awards for All lottery fund.

The award has allowed the group to purchase new camping equipment such as tents (see photo) and take several scouting trips – including a trip to the Austrian Alps.

Wendy has long urged organisations to apply for Lottery funding, especially from Awards for All. She said of the award to the St. Mirin’s Scout Group:

“My campaign to encourage more and more local voluntary organisations to apply for the ‘Awards for All’ part of the lottery is paying off.

This new camping equipment will give the next generation of Paisley Scouts the opportunity to enjoy both holidays in Scotland and overseas.”

The Scout leader, Gerry Green, made it clear that the money was well worth the time spent filling out the application and said, “Thanks to the award from Awards for All the kids are able to do more scouting activities instead of spending all of their time fundraising for the one trip to Austria.
