WENDY URGES BUDDIES TO RECYCLE CHRISTMAS CARDS THIS YEAR
Friday, 30th December 2005Wendy Alexander MSP has backed Woodland Trust, WH Smith and Tesco’s 2005/06 Christmas Card Recycling Scheme by recycling over 150 of her Christmas cards at WH Smiths in Braehead.
The scheme aims to encourage individuals to recycle their old Christmas cards by leaving them in the special recycling bins which are in all WH Smith and Tesco stores across Scotland.
Speaking about the Scheme, Wendy said:
“In Scotland, more than 100 million cards will have been sent this Christmas and the majority will find themselves in the waste bin. Recycling cards makes a real difference to our environment and the Woodland Trust scheme makes it easy with recycling bins in WH Smith and Tesco stores across the country.
“Last year more than 4 million cards were collected in Scotland alone and with Christmas becoming more commercial every year I hope this figure increases. With every card you hand in – the more you protect Scotland’s environment.”
