Wendy Gets Delay Committment From Phone Company

Friday, 12th May 2006

Wendy Alexander MSP organised a meeting between angry residents in Deanpark Road Renfrew and mobile phone company T-Mobile.

Richard Owens, T-Mobile Community Affairs manager for Scotland came under pressure from residents about the siting of a new phone mast on Deanpark Road.

Residents had the opportunity to put questions to and raise their concerns with Mr Owens about the location of the telephone mast.

Speaking at the meeting Mr Owens pledged 3 important undertakings to inform residents of T-Mobile’s plans:

“T-Mobile will make a commitment not to switch on the mast until this issue has been resolved and further discussions have taken place.

We will re-evaluate the current site and look afresh at the other proposed sites for phone masts and T-Mobile will also commit to another meeting with Wendy Alexander MSP and residents to report on progress.”

Wendy said:

“This is an important first step. I wanted to make sure the residents of Deanpark road are heard. I am pleased that T-Mobile has agreed to think again.”
