Wendy Alexander is backing proposals that will entitle all shop workers to have Christmas Day off to spend with their families.

The Paisley North MSP voted in favour of stage one of the Christmas Trading Bill in the Scottish Parliament. Ms Alexander said: “A few years ago few would have believed that shops would even consider opening on Christmas Day.  “But the reality is some shops have started to open and more are following suit.    “When you consider the amount of work which shop workers put into making everyone else’s Christmas a success, it’s only fair they are given the chance to enjoy their own. “Christmas is a time for sharing with family and friends. “I am therefore delighted that the Scottish Parliament voted in favour of the Bill at Stage 1.”
