M74 Final Completion
Thursday, 29th May 2008Local Labour MSP Wendy Alexander warmly welcomed the start of work this week to the final and long awaited 5 mile stretch of the M74. Wendy has continually strongly supported the development of the road.
The anticipated completion date of the project is 2011.
The projected cost of the M74 project is £457m plus £12m allowance to cover potential mining costs. The project will be mainly funded by the Scottish Government with the remainder being funded by Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire Council and Renfrewshire Council. An additional contribution is also to be made by British Airport Authority (BAA). The contract has been let to “Interlink M74 Joint Venture” comprising of construction companies Morgan Est, Balfour Beatty, Morrison Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine’
