Comment from Wendy on Community Alarm Charges

“The SNP in Fife has faced universal condemnation for raising charges for community alarms for pensioners to £1 per week or £51 pa. So the SNP in Renfrewshire should hang their heads in shame – they have hiked charges fro 850 Renfrewshire tenants from zero to £3 per week or £161 pa.

As local pensioners like Mr Keenan say – if £1 a week in Fife is bad enough, in Renfrewshire £3 per week is a disgrace at this time of rising bills.

I hear some local pensioners have had the Council remove the alarms because they cannot find over £160 this year.  I am calling on the SNP and Liberal Democrats to think again.  Our pensioners should not be paying through the nose for their alarms.

I have written to the Council Leader asking him to reverse this short-sighted decision.”
