Kilallen Day-Centre Closure to go ahead

Wendy Alexander recently took up the cause for the Kilallan Day centre on behalf of the users who had lobbied her at surgeries and signed petitions to try and reverse the closure plans of the Council.

Wendy Alexander said

“It is disappointing that the Council is not listening more closely to what the users wish.  The users have explained how much they wish to stay together as a group with a staff team they know.  And given the staff savings involved in this closure/relocation exceed £320,000 per annum I am driven to the conclusion that financial considerations have been the reason behind this closure.

I know there are members of the Council who oppose this short-sighted decision but the SNP/Liberal Administration seems to have set its face against any re-think.

I regret the Council will not authorise a rethink.  Not much of a Christmas present for the elderly”
