COMMENT ON SWINE FLU CASE AT PAISLEY GRAMMAR

- Wendy seeks reassurance -

Wendy Alexander MSP said:

“I spoke to the Health Secretary today about the precautionary steps taken in the wake of a case of swine flu in a third year pupil at Paisley Grammar.

“I sought assurances from the Health Secretary that all necessary precautions were being taken to protect pupils, everything possible would be done to keep parents informed and the best advice would be made available on how to prevent the spread of the virus.

“This will be a worrying time for parents and pupils but I am certain everyone will rise to the challenge of taking all necessary precautions.

“The advice for us all to prevent the spread is when you sneeze to ‘catch it, bin it, kill it.’

“We should all be grateful to the dedicated staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital who are nursing those affected. I understand the cases appear unrelated.”
