Renfrew Ferry Crossing Saved

Wednesday, 24th March 2010

I am pleased to report the Renfrew Ferry has been saved. The new operator is Silvers Marine (UK) Ltd, an Argyll based company. They now have an initial 5 year lease to run the Ferry. Unfortunately the vessel will initially be considerably smaller but the proposed timetable and fare structure are encouraging and the new operator also intends to undertake trials at later date for a potentially wider service on the Clyde. The new service will begin on Monday 29th March 2010 and be fully operational by 1st April 10. The old ferries will be sold. Hopefully one will got to the new Clyde Riverside Museum. Below is a note of planned timetable and fare structure. It is a victory for everyone who signed the ferry. People power can work.

Silver Marine (UK) Ltd has also requested to join the Zonecard and concessionary travel schemes.

Please note that future decisions on timetable and fare structure will rest with the operator as this is a fully commercial service.
