- National Wear Red Day Friday 26 February 2010 -
- Wendy signs Abbeymill’s Cafe up -

Red Heart - Coffee Mill at the Abbeymill collectingFebruary is National Heart Month and British Heart Foundation (BHF) Scotland and Wendy Alexander MSP are asking the people of PAISLEY to join National Wear Red Day on Friday 26th February 2010 and to follow the BEAT health code.

Wendy Alexander persuaded the great little café spot in her building to collect for the British Heart Foundation for a week. The red collection box will be opened on Friday, the National Wear Red Day.

Wendy Alexander MSP said “I wanted to do more than just wear red. All of us know people with heart trouble so this week give a £1 to support healthy hearts. The in-house café in the Abbey Mill Business centre, the Coffee Mill, does a roaring trade five days a week and I am sure many generous buddies will give a £1 with their lunch this week.  Thanks to the café staff for making this possible. Together we can save the life you love.”

By wearing red, for a suggested donation of £1, you will help BHF Scotland save lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital information. You can also take simple steps to improve your and your family’s heart health by following the BEAT health code.

Take the free online lifestyle check from January 2010 at bhf.org.uk. Find out how you measure up – by truthfully answering the quick step by step questions. A report will be generated and advice given to you on how to improve your risk areas. The report can also be printed off, should you want to discuss your assessment with your doctor.

You can also show your support by wearing a Red for Heart pin badge. The pin badge is available from all BHF Scotland Shops, Argos, Homebase, Lloyds TSB, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Fitness First and Lidl for a suggested donation of £1.
