Linwood Active, an action group set up by Linwood residents, were overjoyed to receive £1000 funding from the Glasgow Airport. The funding will go towards the restoration of Kintyre Park in Linwood.

Set up in October 2006, Linwood Active aim to reduce social isolation and increase community participation within the Linwood area. The group believes this can be achieved by restoring local parks and open spaces, therefore creating  play parks that will encourage community interaction.

Over the past years, Kintyre Park has been seriously neglected and is in desperate need of restoration. After months of fundraising – and the donation made by Glasgow Airport, work on the regeneration of the park can finally begin. This will result in the park going from a neglected grassland to a busy family play park that can be enjoyed by the whole community.

Having been fully supportive of the group for a number of some years I am delighted that the unceasing efforts of Linwood Active to secure support for a new play park in Linwood have been recognised by the airport. As the mother of toddlers myself I know how important safe play areas are – particularly in an age where parents understandably want to know where their children are. This is a great boost to the community.
