Wendy Alexander condemns threat to LINWOOD Town centre Post Office
Monday, 13th October 2008Wendy Alexander MSP today pledged to fight for a new Post Office in the new Linwood town centre.
Wendy Alexander said
“It is wrong because a post office in Ayrshire is being saved that the future of a post office in the new Linwood town centre has been thrown into doubt.
Clippens Road Post Office does a good job – but the new town centre deserves a Post Office of its own. With plans for a new supermarket, a new Tweedie Hall, and other shops – one of these should be a Post Office. The existing town centre Post Office closed last autumn because the town centre was in an increasingly poor state – but with a new town centre soon to get planning permission it is just plain wrong to pull the plug on a new post office now.
Post Office senior management must think again”.
