Wendy Supports Feed the Birds Day
Thursday, 26th October 2006
Wendy Alexander has made a flying visit to Lochwinnoch to celebrate Feed the Birds Day.
The event, on Saturday 28 October, marks the clocks going back and the onset of winter.
It is a time when birds and other wildlife need a little extra help to get through the cold snap.
Feed the Birds Day gives people all over the UK the chance to help them.
The Paisley North MSP, an amateur ornithologist herself, is excited about an event designed to attract many more people to focus their attention on garden birds, as well as helping them further develop their interest in birds.
Ms Alexander said: “Helping to feed the birds through the winter is important in keeping their numbers from declining.”
“This is about working for a healthy environment rich in birds and wildlife, which ultimately depends on the support and generosity of others to make a difference.”
“Many people in Renfrewshire are interested in birds and I urge them to support local birdlife this winter.”
